John Hart The Last Child Book Review

without comments

This is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. One of the quotes on the back cover says ‘rare’ and I’d have to agree. This is the story of Johnny Merrimon and his attempts to find his long ago abducted twin sister. It has action and adventure in abundance but also moments of poignance that give the book a gravitas that is genuinely rare.

There was one hugely minor event in the plot that left me a bit confused but this book has superb characters, believable plot, gripping story, loads of action, suspense, bravery, courage and more. in ‘The Last Child’, John Hart has managed to wrap it all into 458 brilliant pages.

9.5/10 – Absolutely loved this book.

Robert Goddard Long Time Coming Book Review

A great book. Eldritch Swan, his nephew Stephen and their lady friend Rachel are thrown together to prove the history of a series of Picasso paintings. It’s a highly original plot with a believable and entertaining story line. Characters are crafted with just enough detail to be interesting but not cumbersome and there is plenty of intrigue to keep you turning the pages. A really easy read that kept me up late to find out what happens next.

8.5/10 Robert Goddard writes ‘Long Time Coming’ with a simplicity that I really enjoyed and I’d highly recommend it.

Linwood Barclay Fear the Worst Book Review

without comments

Another good book. This one doesn’t stuck in my head as being a really great read but it moved along at a respectable pace and quite easily allowed the reader to slot into the role of Tim Blake the lead character. There were a few too many fantastic coincidences for my liking but they created a finely woven plot and an entertaining story.

Tim Blake’s daughter is supposed to be working at a local hotel but goes missing and has never been heard of by her supposed employers.

6.5/10 Not brilliant but good fun and worth a read.
